Ideal for home use, this generator powers up automatically and within seconds of a power outage without the need for any manual startup. Without any buttons to push or cords to plug in, an automatic standby generator starts up by itself even when you're away.

It features a Generac OHVI engine, an exclusive air-cooled generator engine with a high-performance design that can accommodate large electrical loads. The engine optimizes power to respond swiftly to changing conditions. Generac's Nexus controller offers a dual line, tri-lingual LCD display that allows for easy monitoring and management of generator functions. And external "at-a-glance" indicator lights provide an easy way to tell generator status without opening the generator enclosure.
This Guardian generator does not include a transfer switch, enabling you to customize your installation. It does include a composite mounting pad, eliminating the need to pour a concrete base.
The Generac Guardian 5885 meets CARB requirements, and it requires a Group 26R 12-volt minimum 525 CCA battery (sold separately).

Maintenance costs are reduced with a spin-on automotive-style oil filter that's larger than a standard filter, catching more particles so oil stays cleaner for a longer amount of time. Service intervals are up to twice as long as competitive engines, approximately 2 years or 200 hours of operation.
